Cohort 5 Graduates

Congratulations to Graduates of the Orange County In-Home Licensed Childcare Program!

We’re thrilled to announce that 30 dedicated participants have successfully graduated from Cohort 5 of the Orange County In-Home Licensed Childcare Program on Wednesday November 20, 2024! This intensive eight-week program, designed to empower and equip in-home childcare providers with essential skills and resources, reflects a remarkable collaboration among key organizations committed to strengthening our childcare community.

An Essential Need

In-home licensed childcare providers play a vital role in Orange County, filling an essential need for families who rely on safe, nurturing, and flexible childcare options close to their neighborhoods. These small businesses are often the cornerstone of early childhood development, offering personalized care and foundational learning experiences in a home environment. With the rising demand for quality childcare and the critical impact of early learning on our children’s future successes, supporting in-home childcare businesses is more important than ever. Programs like the Orange County In-Home Licensed Childcare Program are instrumental in ensuring these providers have the tools, knowledge, and support necessary to sustain and grow their businesses to meet the community’s needs.

Our Partners and Program Support

This program is presented as a collaborative effort between the Orange County Women’s Business Center (OC WBC), Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (OCIE SBDC), First 5 Orange County, Help Me Grow Orange County, Children’s Home Society of California, Orange County Association for the Education of Young Children, Quality Start OC, and CIELO. Together, these partners bring a wealth of resources, expertise, and guidance that help ensure each graduate is equipped for lasting success.

A Program of Guidance and Growth

Participants who completed the program benefited not only from structured training but also from individualized guidance, working one-on-one with an OC WBC or OCIE SBDC consultant to develop their business plans, address unique challenges, and strategize for growth. In addition, each participant was supported by peer guides—fellow childcare providers and program alumni who shared their experiences, insights, and encouragement. This peer-supported approach has been a key ingredient in helping participants build confidence, overcome challenges, and develop a strong network of support within the childcare community. Graduates who fulfilled all program requirements and are prepared to launch their home-based childcare business have been approved to receive a $500 stipend.

Looking Ahead

With the continued support of our valued partners, we look forward to growing this program and empowering even more in-home childcare providers in future cohorts. Together, we are building a vibrant, resilient childcare community where providers have the tools, connections, and knowledge they need to thrive.
